Magic Moment
03:46
|
|||
I stood and stared as the rain was falling
The city pavements thye looked so glassy
The people rushing into shopfronts
I could have died then so happy
And all the people they were staring
All the traffic had stopped dead
I suppose you could say I was lucky
To remember my magic moment
We pay for everything in our own time
But for this thing there is no price
There is no value on that moment
We walk so slowly on thin ice
And all the people they were staring
All the traffic had stopped dead
I suppose you could say I was lucky
To remember my magic moment

Left Behind
03:35
|
|||
Thought my feet were on terra firma
My rambling days are over, so I guess I’ll stay
Now it feels more like terra incognita
When the past was sweeter, a simpler day
Feel left behind, so left behind
Left behind.
Missed my chance of being someone better
I never got the letter, the email or the tweet
I could have been a mean go-getter
But who am I fooling, that was never me
Feel left behind, so left behind
Left behind.
To fade away into the sunset
Is that the object of the life I led
One day I'll be the widescreen hero
Of the film I shoot inside my head
Feel left behind, so left behind
Left behind.

Dear Joe
04:58
|
|||
Let’s break the laws of physics
Cos time’s not on our side
I worked on E, through to M C
The universe split open wide
We slip right through our fingers
And lives will not be spared
I’m working round the edges
I’ll work until its all been squared
Circle in the square
And Joe plays walk on by
I’ve been working on the answer and I’ve worked out why
The skies are turning blue
I’m getting through today
Catch you on the cell to tell you how I found a a way
And I’ll get back to you
Oh we’re so un-together
And time will pass us by
You’re taking me too literally
That there’s no chance for you and I
I while away the hours
I’ll stick around for you
Because I’ve found
We’re underground
There’s still a chance for me and you
Chance for me and you
And Joe plays walk on by
I’ve been working on the answer and I’ve worked out why
The skies are turning blue
I’m getting through today
Catch you on the cell to tell you how I found a a way
And I’ll get back to you
I’m cashing out tomorrow
because it’s all been said
So what?’ I say ‘if skies look grey,
so many shades inside my head’
We’d drink until tomorrow
We’d drink from smooth to rough
It seems to me, too frequently
That shedding tears is not enough
Tears are not enough
And Joe plays walk on by
I’ve been working on the answer and I’ve worked out why
The skies are turning blue
I’m getting through today
Catch you on the cell to tell you how I found a a way
And I’ll get back to you

Patience
03:13
|
|||
Latitude and longitude
are going for a song
The map is not the territory,
we knew it all along
Cry your eyes out if you must
Your olden ways have turned to dust
You lied your way to greatness
And your statues turn to rust
Patience is a virtue as we
hang our washing out
Waiting for the southern winds to
blow the old ways out
Cry your eyes out if you must
Your olden ways have turned to dust
You lied your way to greatness
And your statues turn to rust
Lines are drawn upon the map
by those who own the pens
While we live our lives beneath
the map without much sense
Cry your eyes out if you must
Your olden ways have turned to dust
You lied your way to greatness
And your statues turn to rust

Arkwright Street
04:40
|
|||
Gospel choir, Arkwright Street
Made my heart skip a beat
Put a spring back in my step
Don’t know why, not there yet
Nothing matters any more
Broken heart or broken law
Heavy mental underground
Don’t let the bastards grind you down
Paranoia in the night
Red light flashing into sight
We have taken everything
We have made the heavens sing
Nothing matters any more
Broken heart or broken law
Heavy mental underground
Don’t let the bastards grind you down
Bodies broken losing ground
Where the king won’t wear the crown
Wounds are open, never healed
Will you tell me what to feel
Nothing matters any more
Broken heart or broken law
Heavy mental underground
Don’t let the bastards grind you down

Graveyard Song
03:31
|
|||
Slept in a graveyard, my one and only time,
Four and twenty corpses, slumbered in a line.
When the graves were opened the birds began to sing
early in the morning for the new green king.
Camped in an old house, deserted for years,
near the sound of water and the edge of fear.
Then we used to walk these shores at night
and the banshee wailed in the dark moon light
Walked on a mountain, looked out to sea,
over to the islands that had fallen empty.
When once they used to sing to the sound of the waves
now only the birds can be heard in the rotting graves.

Standards
03:54
|
|||
I was in the temple watching you do your deals
I was in the dairy, watched you skim off the cream
I can’t stand it, I can’t bear it
I’ve got standards, just lost my bearings
You took me up the mountain, saying “do you like what you see.
All of this could be in your grasp if you just bow down to me”.
I can’t stand it, I can’t bear it
I’ve got standards, just lost my bearings
You met me at the crossroads and gave me fingers of fire,
An old guitar and a golden tongue, all of my heart’s desire.
I can’t stand it, I can’t bear it
I’ve got standards, just lost my bearings
Once I blazed across the sky, leaving a trail of flame;
I fell to earth, and here I lie - who will help me rise again?
I can’t stand it, I can’t bear it
I’ve got standards, just lost my bearings

Life
03:44
|
|||
Not going to heaven, no need to feel down
There’s no hereafter, not here, not in this whole damn town
Go get your note book, c’mon get your pen
We’re gonna rip it up and start it again
But life, life, life will take you apart
Life, life, life will take you apart
I’m tired of inside, I’m gonna go out
Shout from the rooftops but there's not much to shout about
We're the classroom, the art of decline
We’re finding second sight that hits you jright between the eyes
But life, life, life will take you apart
Life, life, life will take you apart
I’ve got no feelings it's a matter of fact
Saw Mr Pharmacist but he’s got no tact
Told me to caffeine up and ride with the guys
I’m going nowhere fast, but getting out and getting by
But life, life, life will take you apart
Life, life, life will take you apart

Sleep
03:36
|
|||
I didn't sleep for 20 years
But it was not through choice
And never as it seemed
So I gathered up the tears
And sang without a voice
And never really dreamed
But maybe I'll sleep tonight
If I just turn out the light
I didn't cry for 20 years
My eyes were full of sand
My throat a desert bed
And I gathered up the fears
To make them understand
The things we never said
But maybe I'll cry tonight
If we just turn out the light

Trouble In You
04:39
|
|||
I walked all day till the sun fell down
There was no other soul around
I didn’t know what to do
I heard the sound of an ocean dying
I dried the tears of a seabird crying
For the trouble in you
It's the same rain falls on us all
The same sun makes us warm
The same soil keeps us fed
The same sky over our head
There is a place I know over the border
If all our papers are in order
A land so good and true
I take the path of least resistance
My feet are tired but it's really no distance
To reach the trouble in you
It's the same rain falls on us all
The same sun makes us warm
The same soil keeps us fed
The same sky over our head
I reached out but there was no connection
I pushed through there old door to the section
Where they keep the bad news
Caught in wonder and desolation
A dark glimpse of a desecration
Of the trouble in you
It's the same rain falls on us all
The same sun makes us warm
The same soil keeps us fed
The same sky over our head
